Margery Fridstein was a practicing psychotherapist for more than forty years, first in Illinois and later in Colorado. She was the Director of Community Education at the Josselyn Center in Northfield, Illinois for twenty years before moving to Colorado. There, she had an active psychotherapy practice in Snowmass Village, Colorado for another twenty years, and she continued her practice for several years in the Denver area after she and her husband moved to the Vi at Highlands Ranch, a Continuing Care Retirement Community. 

She is the author of two books: My Last Stop: Reflections in Senior Living and Grandparenting: A Survival Guide—How to Better Understand Yourself, Your Children and Your Children’s Children. She wrote a column for The Aspen Times and later The Snowmass Sun called “Let’s Talk Behavior” from 2005-2010, and in 2010-11 was a regular guest columnist for the “Colorado Voices” section of The Denver Post. From 2013-2015 she wrote a monthly column called “My Last Stop” for SeniorHomes.com, and in 2014 her article “The New Golden Years” appeared in 5280 Denver Magazine.

Margery earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University and received advanced clinical training from the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. 

Margery was married to her husband, Bob, for more than sixty years, and together they raised four children: Peggy, Thomas, Kathy, and Nancy. She passed away in November 2016 after a brief illness.
